Sea Change Conference
Frequency Foundry is a gold sponsor of the Sea Change Conference held in the PEI Convention Centre from June 17 – 20th, 2018.
Sea Change is an annual conference hosted in partnership by Association of Registrars of the Universities of Canada (ARUCC) and Canadian Association of Colleges and University Student Services (CACUSS).
ARUCC provides leadership in the post-secondary education field and service to its member institutions nationally and internationally, helping foster the advancement of registrar practices in Canada. ARUCC is a proponent of innovation in the education sector. It values communication amongst its members and engages with them through many mediums to provide updates on proactive measures reflecting changes in the professional environment.
CACUSS is a professional bilingual association representing and serving individuals who work in Canadian post-secondary institutions in student affairs and services. CACUSS developed communities of practice and networks which focuses on such areas as student health and wellness, first-year students, new professionals and leadership education. This is the first time that both organizations have partnered to host a conference. The Program Committee will be made up of professional staff from universities and colleges across Canada, including hosts from the University of Prince Edward Island.
The theme, Sea Change was derived from, ‘The creation of sea glass; the sparkling jewels found along our shorelines. When considering the student experience, there are many parallels to be drawn to the process glass undergoes when becoming sea glass. A bottle or a piece of pottery finds its way into a new environment, it begins tossing and swirling in all sorts of directions, bumping up against obstacles all the while reshaping and refining itself, becoming more resilient. Then, finally, it is delivered onto the shoreline of our beaches, a stronger, unique, one of a kind, gem.”
Attendees will be comprised of university and college leaders including enrolment managers, strategists and vice-presidents, registrars, deans and directors. Admissions and recruitment staff will also be in attendance, as well as academic advisors and counsellors, and more. There are an estimated 800 professionals attending Sea Change.
The Foundry team is beyond excited to be a part of such an innovative conference to be able to bring its greymatter solution to delegates and expand its presence in Eastern Canada. The Foundry team looks forward to exciting discussions about technology in education and hopes to develop long-lasting relationships with attendees. If you are planning on attending, please visit our booth at the convention centre and say hi!
